Saint-Emilion 2007 (first part)Tenth report (April, 21th 2008) “ I never thought of 1997 with 2007. In 2007 grapes were riper. We were not working as much in 1997 as today, whether in the vineyards nor the cellar ”. Laurence Brun, in charge of Château Dassault. In general the vintage appears more successful on limestone and clay terroirs than on sandy ones. The end of season has particularly well suited the estates located on late terroirs that are slow to ripe (such as Fleur Cardinale) . Yet, on sandy soils, the success of Dassault, Corbin, Larmande or Quinault might contradict my words. The vintage does not offer vegetal characteristics like I found on the left bank, and in the Médoc in particular. As elsewhere, the wines are soft and at the same time show freshness, aromas and vividness. And this freshness is surprising because acidity levels are low. I have not met tough wine on the finish, while some wines show high tannins levels. Certainly, some wines show a lack of power or length. However, neither do I qualify them to be diluted nor fluid. This new kind of pleasant sensation, may sometimes suggests a weakness, but sometimes not. Indeed, how can it be understood that this vintage is holding up so well the exchanges with the wood from ageing in barrel without having its fruit be drown by it? Acting cautiously, winemakers want to pay a lot of attention to barrel ageing. It will be rather reductive than oxidative. The know-how in preserving the aromatic vibrancy will make all the difference. It remains to be convinced and not have tried to copy a Bordeaux model known as extracted, powerful, and even massive, which was impossible to reproduce with these weather conditions. This lack of power can also be explained by the fact that the usually most qualitative plots have not given the best wine this year. Nobody knows why. It is said in Fronsac ( Les Trois Croix ) in Saint-Emilion ( Dassault ) and also in Pomerol ( Vieux Chateau Certan ). Sometimes, the cabernets francs were even excluded from the final blend. This is the case in Valandraud where the 2007 is composed of 100% of merlot. Premiers grands crus classés The quality is very homogeneous. It is faced with differences of style rather than qualitative differences. Ratings are concentrated in a tight range, with no heights, and no lows either. Magdelaine appears to be the lightest. Christian Moueix has clarified that the blend was made only ten days before the tasting. It's too soon, he says, to taste this vintage. He offered me to come back for another tasting mid-May. Generally, I tasted the wines on three occasions. Pavie does not yet appear in this report, as I only did taste it once. Ditto for La Mondotte, which I will taste this week. For now, I have only given one single heart’s delight on the right bank. It will appear in the report which will be published on Wednesday evening. In conclusion, I think that in Saint-Emilion, the 2007 vintage is more favorable to the mid-range wines than the high-end ones. In fact, many of those estates, very detail-oriented in recent years, offer wines of good standard and regular quality compared to their previous productions. I think of Lamarzelle, Cadet Bon, Laroze, Corbin, Dassault, Larmande, Lassègue, Berliquet and others. It will only require comparing their ratings from the wine reviews database to those of other vintages to realize that. And as prices will be based on the results, that are lower in proportion for the best wines, bargains might emerge in the mid-range. _______________________________________________________________________________________ ANGÉLUS St-Emilion Grand Cru 91 Lovely purple color. Fruity and discreet nose of ripe type. Almost unctuous and dense on entry. The wine develops very, very fruity, with taste, flesh and a lovely mid-palate. The wine finishes tannic, coated, fat, quite powerful yet also aromatic. It is one of the very few wines to show a great length this year. AUSONE St-Emilion Grand Cru // 92 Lovely red, purple and dark color. Intense and fruity nose of ripe style. Creamy characteristics. Ample on entry, the wine develops caressing and extremely fruity. Rather fat on the mid-palate, it finishes with quite present yet coated tannins. Good and tasty length. This is very good in a smooth style. 13.5% of alcohol. PH 3.65. A blend of 55% cabernet franc and 45% merlot. New: From 2007, Ausone will be aged in barrels less toasted than they used to be.BALESTARD LA TONNELLE St-Emilion Grand Cru//86 Lovely dark color. Nose of average aromatic intensity, appearing fruity, of ripe type and above all, pure. Smooth, very fruity and finely chubby on the palate, the wine shows good body. A slightly stewed fruit characteristic marks the finish. Barrel ageing will reveal more. BARDE HAUT St-Emilion Grand Cru//89 Purple and vivid color. Slightly truffled nose of average aromatic intensity. Quite dense on entry, the wine develops very fruity and suave, mellow, rich and tasty with fat tannins. Aromatic and quite complex on the finish. The quality of its flesh propels it to the level of the most successful wines of the vintage. BEAU SÉJOUR BÉCOT St-Emilion Grand Cru//90 Purple and intense color. Aromatic and fruity nose of ripe type. Smooth and fruity on the palate, developing caressing. The wine evolves with fat, smoothness and fruit. Rather dense overall. Lovely construction. Good and tasty length. This persistence promises to become beautiful with barrel ageing. BEAUSÉJOUR DUFFAU St-Emilion Grand Cru//89 - 90 Purple color of good intensity. Resin and plum character. Smooth on entry and very, very fruity on the mid-palate. The wine develops very tasty, very fruity with presence. It has taste and an ascending body in its excitement. It is very good. For now, barrel ageing remains in order to potentially embellish it even more. BELAIR St-Emilion Grand Cru//88 - 89 Dark purple and vivid color. Discreet and fruity nose. Smooth on entry, developing very fruity of medium body. The wine shows very tasty on the mid-palate and rebounds on finish with a fine fat characteristic. A lovely construction. This estate is really different since 2004. BELLEFONT BELCIER St-Emilion Grand Cru//86 Purple color of good intensity. Aromatic nose, appearing fruity and pure. Pulpy, yet a bit extracted on the palate. The wine evolves with fat and a creamy aspect. Average and tannic length. BERGAT St-Emilion Grand Cru//85 - 86 Vivid red Bordeaux color, of average intensity. Fruity nose of ripe type and rather aromatic. Chubby and very fruity on entry, the wine develops with a medium body and shows tannins a tad firm in the persistence. Barrel ageing will reveal more. BERLIQUET St-Emilion Grand Cru//89 Red purple color of good intensity. The nose is distinguished from all its peers this year by its great vibrancy. Fine, fruity and sophisticated, it also appears floral and with licorice. Delicate on entry, the wine instantly appears fruity. Developing with an always very refined touch. Elegant, suave and melting, it is absolutely delicious, evolving well built towards a finish of subtle fatness and fine tannins. This is definitely impossible to spit out. Its elongated shape presentation and so aromatic nose brings it closer to a burgundy style. A success of the vintage. CADET BON St-Emilion Grand Cru//88This estate was declassified in the 2006 classification of Saint Emilion. And yet, it had started its revolution back in 2002, following its acquisition by Mr. & Mrs. Richard. I did taste a very good 2007, with good color, and a fruity and pure nose. With an elegant touch on the palate, the wine shows good density, along with a coated and melting finish. I can't help but swallow this wine! CADET PIOLA St-Emilion Grand Cru//85 - 86 Red purple color of good intensity. Discreet nose. The wine appears both suave and rustic at the same time. Of average mid-palate, its finish shows a bit woody. Of medium length. Barrel ageing will reveal more. CANON St-Emilion Grand Cru//88 - 89 Lovely dark, red and purple color of good intensity. Fruity nose, of average intensity and ripe type. Smooth and silky. The wine develops aromatic and fat. The estate confirms its style with a very silky touch. On the finish, this wine shows good length with a fine grain. CANTENAC St-Emilion Grand Cru//85 - 86 Purple color of average intensity. Fruity nose of average aromatic intensity. Smooth and juicy on entry, the wine develops velvety and enjoyable. Rich in fruit, this wine melts on the palate with fruity and even creamy tannins. The length remains medium. CAP DE MOURLIN St-Emilion Grand Cru//85 - 86 Dark red intense color. Fruity nose of ripe type. Smooth and fruity on the palate with an enjoyable body. The wine is less rigid than it used to be in the past. (no doubt that Michel Rolland's consulting services at this property has something to do with it). Good length. CHAPELLE D'AUSONE (LA) Saint-Emilion//88 - 89 Lovely dark and purple color. Aromatic and fruity on the nose along with a hint of reduction that evokes coffee. Well built on the palate, the wine offers a lovely touch, then developing with body, fruit and coated tannins. Average length. CHAUVIN St-Emilion Grand Cru//86 Dark red color of good intensity. Aromatic nose appearing fruity, finely creamy and slightly peppery. On the palate, this wine is melting from entry to finish, appearing very pleasant. Slightly woody on finish. Average length. Well-coated tannins. CHEVAL BLANC St-Emilion Grand Cru//94 Dark red, purple color of good intensity. Great, fresh, pure, floral and subtle nose developing very fruity upon swirling. From entry, the wine shows its density. Settling down delicately and firmly on the tongue, the wine develops very, very fruity, aromatic, fat, fine and subtle, with a full mid-palate. Continuing to melt on the second part of the palate, it offers a finish made of royal tannins. It is very, very good and absolutely impossible to spit out. Since 2004, Cheval Blanc seems to be back to its basics. That is certainly its best path going forward. To be more specific, I would say that both 2002 and 2003 appear to be less in the Cheval Blanc style than this 2007. A blend of 55% cabernet franc and 45% merlot. Alcohol: 13.1% (natural). PH 3.9 - Total acidity : 3.1. IPT 80 (which is high). No addition of press wine whatsoever was made to the blend. The Grand Vin represents a selection of 30% of the harvest. As said by the property, what is surprising is the freshness of this wine while it has low acidity levels. Harvest were performed especially late this year, 10 to 12 days later than what the estate usually does.CLIMAT DE CH. CANTENAC St-Emilion Grand Cru//85 - 86 Intense purple color. Fruity nose offering a red fruit liqueur aroma. Smooth, fruity and mellow, the wine is a bit easy on the mid-palate. Coated tannins. Average length. CLOS BADON St-Emilion Grand Cru//85 - 86 Dark color. Fruity nose, very well mixed with a grilled woody characteristic that also evokes green hazelnut. Smooth, fruity and tasty on the palate. Medium body. CLOS DES JACOBINS St-Emilion Grand Cru//87 - 88 Intense and purple color. Fruity and pure nose. Velvety on the palate and of medium body, this wine evolves with quite chubby tannins. The wood very finely marks the finish. Medium length. CLOS DES PRINCES St-Emilion Grand Cru//87 This is a new estate where Stéphane Derenoncourt is consulting. It covers a 3 ha surface of sandy-gravely soil. This is a very good wine offering density, taste, ripe tannins and a silky touch on the palate. A tad vivid on the finish that is to be melted during barrel ageing. Quite refined texture. CLOS DUBREUIL Saint-Emilion//85 - 86 Very intensely colored, with a nose of medium aromatic intensity. The wine is smooth on one site and rather firm from the mid-palate until the finish. Offering a tannic yet aromatic persistence and a medium length. CLOS FOURTET St-Emilion Grand Cru//91 Very dark and purple color. Fruity nose, of average aromatic intensity and ripe type. Superb on entry, the wine is finely velvety, developing extremely silky and noble. Here is another wine with a high-end construction. Very slow delicious evolution made of a complex taste. Very coated tannin. A delight. Clos La MADELEINE St-Emilion Grand Cru//85 - 86 Lovely dark and intense color. This year, the nose is more oxidized in its presentation than in the past. I regret that. Rounded and fruity on the palate, the wine shows a medium body, appearing denser and fruitier than in the past. Nevertheless, I doubt it to be more tasty. Medium length. CORBIN MICHOTTE St-Emilion Grand Cru//84 Dark red color of average intensity. The wine offers a discreet nose, a caressing palate yet lacks depth and body. Medium length. COTE DE BALEAU St-Emilion Grand Cru//85 - 86 Dark and intense color. Nose appearing a bit oxidized. With a smooth and velvety body, this wine has a fruity taste, and a hint of smoke in its persistence. Very mellow, this wine offers a slightly salt characteristic. COUVENT DES JACOBINS St-Emilion Grand Cru//88 Dark red, intense and purple color. Pure nose, appearing very fruity, ripe and subtle. Floral characteristics of wild mulberry tree. Very lovely on entry, the wine is caressing, then develops pulpy, juicy and very aromatic. Despite still appearing a bit woody right now, it is very well built. Yet, the taste is there. Barrel ageing will reveal it more. Good aromatic length, showing fine tannins DASSAULT St-Emilion Grand Cru//88 Lovely dark and intense red color. Aromatic, fine, fruity, creamy, subtle and noble nose. Bravo! Finely mellow on entry, the wine develops tasty, with a very nice touch on the palate. Well built, the body is of medium power. Its charm comes from the smoothness of the flesh and the precision of its crafting. Good length made of coated tannins. Lots of pleasure! FAUGERES St-Emilion Grand Cru//85 - 86 Intense purple color. Fruity nose of average aromatic intensity. Smooth, fruity and tender on the palate. Tasty and coated tannins. Medium length. FERRAND LARTIGUE St-Emilion Grand Cru//87 Intense purple color. Fruity and fresh nose of ripe type. It is also distinguished by its purity. Smooth on entry, the wine develops very fruity, finely mellow, tasty with a good body and is very enjoyable. It appears chubby on finish, with taste and a good length. A success of the vintage. FIGEAC St-Emilion Grand Cru//88 - 89 Lovely dark color. Fruity nose of average aromatic intensity. Caressing on entry, the wine develops smooth and fruity, with good density and a more vivid touch on the second part of the palate. This is an enjoyable wine and true to its style. FLEUR CARDINALE St-Emilion Grand Cru//90 Black color. Intense, ripe, fresh and quite fine nose. Fine characteristics of mulberry jelly. Exotic hints of wood. It is both ripe and fresh at the same time. Very lovely on entry, the wine develops ample, juicy, powerful, fat and aromatic. I can't recall knowing this cru with such a pulpy body and precise frame in the past. Power slightly fades on the finish, yet taste and tannins are particularly well defined. This is great work and a very unique expression of Saint-Emilion. For sure there is going to be an excellent deal in perspective. FONBEL St-Emilion Grand Cru//84 Dark red color of average intensity. Fruity and slightly animal nose. Rounded and fruity on the palate, the wine shows slightly firm tannins on the finish. Medium length. FONPLEGADE St-Emilion Grand Cru//86 Purple color of good intensity. Fruity, discreet and ripe nose of average aromatic intensity. Its taste is a mix of slightly cooked fruit and a fruit appearing a bit fresher. Still quite firm on the finish, it will require some time to become rounder. I have confidence in Marjolaine De Coninck to put this estate on the rise. The next steps are in the vineyards. FONROQUE St-Emilion Grand Cru//87 Dark red color, purple, of good intensity. Fruity, intense and slightly resinous nose. Plum characteristics. On the palate, the wine develops very fruity, suave and finely pulpy. The taste is slightly marked by wood at the moment and with very ripe fruit characteristics. Long and coated finish, especially more spicy than fruity. This is surprising given how the 2006 from this estate appeared delightful of fruits. FRANC MAYNE St-Emilion Grand Cru//85 - 86 Purple color. Nose of average aromatic intensity, with ripe fruits, even very ripe. Smooth on entry, the wine develops fruity, of medium body, offering taste, with coated tannins and a medium length. GAILLARD St-Emilion Grand Cru//84 - 85 Vivid purple color of good intensity. Fruity nose of average aromatic intensity. Suave on the palate, offering a joyful rounded merloting profile with a creamy touch. Coated tannins yet with a slightly rustic finish. GODEAU St-Emilion Grand Cru//88 - 89 This wine is located facing Tertre Roteboeuf. It uses consulting from Stéphane Derenoncourt. It has a clay soil. In 2007, this estate's yield was only 20hl/ha. Deep and vivid purple color. Fruity, pure and subtle nose of average aromatic intensity. Superb ample entry on the palate, the wine develops of large volume, very fruity, tasty, full and with taste. Evolving velvety and sappy towards a coated, powerful and tannic finish, with a fine grain and plenty of flavours. There is wine in the glass! A great success in the powerful style of wines made from the south slope of St Emilion. GRACIA St-Emilion Grand Cru//89 - 90 Lovely dark intense red color. Very aromatic nose, offering ripe fruit aromas, appearing pure altogether, along with some exotic characteristics. Showing a good construction, with substantial body, the wine melts all through the tasting, juicy, fresh, ripe and offering coated tannins. For now, the wine is slightly marked by the wood. This will change during barrel ageing. Good and tasty length. GRAND CORBIN St-Emilion Grand Cru//85 Nice dark purple color. Nose appearing a bit oxidized. Round on entry, the wine then becomes hollow and finishes with a fruity taste and some slightly green characteristics. Medium length. GRAND CORBIN DESPAGNE St-Emilion Grand Cru//86 - 87 Purple color of average intensity. Fine and fruity nose of average aromatic intensity and ripe type, it is showing a very lovely association with the wood. Lovely on entry, the wine appears smooth, then develops aromatic, very fruity and finely pulpy, with coated tannins. Very ripe taste on finish, spicy and of medium length. GRAND MAYNE St-Emilion Grand Cru//87 - 88 Dark red color of good intensity. Fruity, ripe and creamy nose of average aromatic intensity. Caressing and fruity on the palate, with a medium body; the wine melts all through the tasting, showing well-coated tannins, followed by a good length. Delicious character. GRAND PONTET St-Emilion Grand Cru//88 Purple color. Fine and fruity nose of medium intensity and ripe type. Very lovely and refined on entry, the wine develops with an elegant touch, showing taste and presence. Quite fat on the mid-palate, it finishes with good length, some energy and a more tensed character. Very aromatic persistence. Barrel ageing will reveal more. HAUT CORBIN St-Emilion Grand Cru//85 Purple color of medium intensity. Rather animal and fruity nose. Smooth on entry, the wine develops fruity, with medium body. Finish a bit marked by the wood. Medium length. HAUT SARPE St-Emilion Grand Cru//85 - 86 Intense purple color. Fruity nose, more defined than in the past. Smooth on entry, the wine develops of medium body, yet appearing very tender. Enjoyable finish, of licorice taste. It is good, without being dense. JEAN FAURE St-Emilion Grand Cru//87 Intense purple color. Fruity nose with a slight tar characteristic. Smooth and pulpy on the palate, the wine develops with a good body. It seems to me that this wine is more precise in its structure and components than in the past. Coated tannins. It is good! L'ARROSÉE Saint-Emilion//87 - 88 Dark red color of average intensity. Fruity and resinous nose of average aromatic intensity. Fruity on the palate, the wine is very smooth and rather aromatic. Slightly lacking depth in its structure, yet the wine rebounds on finish with taste, medium length and vivid flavors. Barrel ageing should provide it more depth. LA CLOTTE St-Emilion Grand Cru//86 Intense purple color. Discreet nose. Juicy and velvety from entry on the palate, the wine evolves with medium body and tannins appear to be slightly marked by wood at the moment. Yet, the wine has density. Tannic finish with good length. Barrel ageing should bring an additional touch of pleasure to this wine. LA COMMANDERIE St-Emilion Grand Cru//85 - 86 Purple color of good intensity. Fruity nose, of medium aromatic intensity, spicy. Enjoyable on entry, the wine develops fruity and finely mellow, with medium body, appearing aromatic, with coated tannins. Medium length. LA COUSPAUDE St-Emilion Grand Cru//84 Dark color of good intensity. Fruity nose showing slightly oxidized yet less woody than usual. With a suave and delicate structure, the wine lacks its usual power, yet seems slightly more balanced. I found more green characteristics in another tasting. Average length. LA CROIX FIGEAC St-Emilion Grand Cru//85 Purple color of average intensity. Fruity and spicy nose. Smooth and mellow on the palate with coated tannins on the finish. Enjoyable wine. LA CROIZILLE St-Emilion Grand Cru//86 Purple color of average intensity. Fruity, fresh and quite discreet nose. Smooth and velvety, the wine offers taste in the mid-palate, with coated tannins. Good and aromatic length than only makes me regret a slight lack of body. For sure this wine has a strong personality. Its potential doesn't seem quite exploited. LA DOMINIQUE St-Emilion Grand Cru//88 - 89For this vintage, La Dominique is made of 100% merlot. As of today, the decision of blending in 5% of cabernet sauvignon has not been finalized. Red, vivid and purple color. Fruity, floral, pure and distinguished nose. Mellow and even fat on the palate, the wine is dominated by fruit. Velvety palate, of good size. Even a bit powerful on the finish. Good length. This is a success of the vintage. LA FLEUR St-Emilion Grand Cru//87 Lovely deep purple color. Aromatic, pure and finely creamy nose. On the palate, the wine develops with a nice balance, a caressing touch, a good tannic as well as aromatic presence. Juicy and tasty, it finishes with fine tannins and taste. A delight. Here is another great piece of work from Laurence Brun. LA FLEUR D'ARTHUS St-Emilion Grand Cru//86 Intense purple color. Fruity and aromatic nose, of very ripe fruity type. Smooth on the palate, the wine develops very fruity, even fat and velvety on the mid-palate. Coated tannins. Tasty and slightly tannic finish. Medium length. LA GAFFELIÈRE St-Emilion Grand Cru//89 Red color of average intensity. Fruity, fresh and ripe nose. Caressing on the palate of fruity and fresh type. Developing very tasty, the wine evolves with coated tannins and a lovely violet aroma in its persistence. LA GOMERIE St-Emilion Grand Cru//88 Lovely dark intense purple color. Fruity, fresh and ripe aromatic nose. Smooth, fruity and juicy on the palate, the wine offers a medium body and a slightly woody finish. Medium length. Will be very enjoyable young. LA MARZELLE St-Emilion Grand Cru//88 Intense, dark purple color. Aromatic nose, with a nice smell of very ripe fruits. Suave and pulpy on entry, the wine develops tasty, aromatic and full, with a lovely floral and fruity taste. I think it is better than the 2006 and of a fresher and less candied style. A great success of the estate and the vintage. 13.5% of natural alcohol. pH: 3.75. Yield: 35hl/ha. As opposed to other properties this year, Philippe Genevey started harvesting his merlot very early: beginning on September 13th and finishing on the 26th. The Cabernet franc was harvested on October 2nd. LA SERRE St-Emilion Grand Cru//85 - 86 Purple color. Fruity nose of average aromatic intensity. Quite light yet charming on the palate. LA TOUR DU PIN St-Emilion Grand Cru//87 - 88 This is the first vintage entirely made by the team from Cheval Blanc, now in charge of this new property. The color is dark with good intensity. The nose is distinguished by its purity, fine character and finely creamy. On the palate, the wine opens up smoothly, very fruity, tasty and melting, really impossible to spit out on finish. Very charming. A success of the vintage LA TOUR FIGEAC St-Emilion Grand Cru//86 Intense purple color. Fruity and very ripe nose. Smooth on entry, the wine develops fruity with a medium body on the palate. Tannins are a bit more apparent than usual. Medium length with a vibrant ripe taste. LANIOTE St-Emilion Grand Cru//84 Intense purple color. Ripe, fruity and creamy nose of medium aromatic intensity. Enjoyable on entry, the body loses some of its velvet and finish with quite present tannins and medium length. LARCIS DUCASSE St-Emilion Grand Cru//89 - 90 Purple color of medium intensity. Ripe fruity nose. Subtle woody characteristics. Hints of blackcurrant. Very elegant aspect. Close to the style of Berliquet. Particularly enjoyable on entry, the wine develops very fruity, finely chubby, with fatness, showing fine and aromatic tannins. Dynamic finish, of good length. Once more, a racy aspect stands out. LARMANDE St-Emilion Grand Cru//87 - 88 Dark red color of good intensity. Ripe fruity nose. Smooth and very fruity, the wine shows a fine touch, appearing very fruity on the mid-palate, with creamy aromas. Ripeness does not prevent freshness in this wine. Coated and ripe tannins. A very precise work. Good and aromatic length. LAROQUE St-Emilion Grand Cru//88 Purple color of good intensity. Fruity nose finely intermixed with wood. Lovely on entry, the wine develops very fruity, showing a chubby and dynamic body that gives tension to this wine. Very uniform, it finishes tasty, melting and flavorful. The persistence shows a creamy characteristic, quite unique this year. This is very good. LE PRIEURÉ St-Emilion Grand Cru//87 - 88 Dark red and purple color. Fruity nose of ripe type. Silky on entry, the wine develops very fruity, with taste, density and good presence on the mid-palate. Then, it becomes woven, evolving tasty and melting. Its mix of weaving and smoothness is rather unique. Very good length, of fine grain. A success of the estate. LES GRANDES MURAILLES St-Emilion Grand Cru//85 - 86 Lovely red, purple color of medium intensity. Fruity and ripe nose slightly oxidized in its appearance. Fruity on entry, the wine has moderate presence on the mid-palate and finishes slightly rustic. Should the sulfur content have been higher, I think that its taste would appear to be more precise. LUCIA St-Emilion Grand Cru//88 Lovely dark purple color. Very nice aromatic and fruity nose of fresh and ripe type. Quite dense on entry, the wine offers a lovely touch on the palate, with great quality of fruit. Quite opulent for the vintage, it develops aromatic, with very well coated tannins. A slight vividness appears in the finish and should melt with barrel ageing. LYNSOLENCE St-Emilion Grand Cru//87 - 88 Intense purple color. Very fruity, ripe and pure nose. Structured from entry, the wine develops smooth and very fruity with a ripe and fresh taste at the same time. Quite full on the mid-palate, the finish is sappy and aromatic, offering well-coated and rather fine tannins. Beautiful work. To be continued! Next report on Wednesday, April 23rd.
