Dear Reader, After two weeks of tasting 2009 Bordeaux futures, (I still have another week and a half to go), I will start publishing my first results on the evening of Monday March, 29th. It is my pleasure to already announce that I am rating 99/100 red Haut-Brion making it the wine of the vintage. At this stage, I place it above its 2005 parent. HAUT BRION 2009.......................................................... 19,5 // 99My best rating ever given to this wine during futures campaigns. Very intensely colored, this wine benefits from a complex, floral and creamy nose that is also very fine and particularly fresh while containing 14.3% of alcohol. Superb on entry, it behaves both wide and subtle at the same time. This 2009 Haut-Brion then develops over an extraordinary flavor of fruit, with body presence, volume and a creamy touch on the palate that is not heavy. The wine finishes melting and powerful over a very great and sophisticated length, where the permanent mellow characteristic remains unique for the estate, exception made to recall the 1989 vintage. Bravo! A blend of 40 % cabernet sauvignon, 14 % cabernet franc and 46 % de merlot. Alcohol: 14,3° - pH : 3,84 – IPT : 85.Looking forward to sharing some notes on Monday.
