I have just sampled them again down to the 2007 vintage. (see page 400 in the Guide Quarin ) Beautiful garnet hue. Plenty of fruit on the deliciously fragrant and clean nose. Smooth on entry then extremely appetising, delicately threaded and plump. Run through with elegant taste and tannins. Good length on finish. Utterly delicious and highly recommended.Available on Jean-Luc Thunevin’s website for around 14 euros.BAD BOY Bordeaux rouge 14,5 // 85 BALTHUS Bordeaux Supérieur 13,75 // 83 BEAULIEU Comtes de Tastes Bordeaux Supérieur 14 // 84 BEAULIEU Grande réserve Bordeaux Supérieur 14,75 // 85 - 86 BELLEVUE LA RANDEE Bordeaux rouge 14,5 // 85 BOSTON Margaux 15 // 86 Gorgeous purplish crimson with garnet hues. Elegant, clean and fruity nose. Moderately powerful but perfumed, silky and backed by refine tannins. Lovely wine. This young estate belongs to Vincent Ginestet. The vineyard was planted in 2003 and the vines are still too young for the wine to be powerful – but the scents are delicate. .CLOS MONICORD Bordeaux Supérieur 14,5 // 85 DE LA COUR D'ARGENT Bordeaux rouge 14 // 84 DE TASTES Bordeaux Supérieur 13 // 80 Domaine DE COURTEILLAC Bordeaux Supérieur 13,5 // 82 DOMAINE VIRGINIE THUNEVIN Bordeaux rouge 14 // 84 G ACTE 3 Bordeaux Supérieur 15 // 86 As you might have guessed from the label’s name, this is the third vintage for this estate belonging to the Guinaudeau family, who also own château Lafleur in Pomerol, which, incidentally, provided the vines to plant the estate with. Intense bright purplish crimson. Fresh, animal and smokey nose of fruit. Bursting with fruit on the detailed, juicy and tasty palate backed by fine-grained tannins. Sappy, delicious finish. Good length. Very pleasant indeed. GIROLATE Bordeaux rouge 15,25 // 87 Bright glossy red. Delicately toasted and laden with fruit on the nose. Opening on a smooth, juicy and rounded palate then extremely well-structured and offering presence and taste on finish. Spices coming to the fore in the sappy persistence. Lovely wine. GRAND VILLAGE rouge Bordeaux Supérieur 15,25 // 87 The estate belongs to the Guinaudeau family, who also own Château Lafleur in Pomerol. It now ranks among the top Bordeaux Sups and, in terms of style and calibre, is way beyond the appellation status. I would compare it to a Saint Emilion. Around 13 euros a bottle. Intense ruby red. Smooth nose of extremely ripe fruit. Offering taste, presence and well-coated tannins on the pulpy, rounded palate. Good length on finish. The estate’s clayey-limestone soil really played in its favour this year.A blend of 83% merlot and 17% cabernet franc.GREE LAROQUE Bordeaux Supérieur 14 // 84 JEAN FAUX Bordeaux Supérieur 14,75 // 85 - 86 JOANIN BECOT Côtes de Castillon 15 // 86 Deep garnet hue. Fragrant, clean and refine nose of fruit. Juicy, smooth and fresh palate with a backbone of refine tannins and plenty of taste. Average length. Well-coated from start to finish.L'ISLE FORT Bordeaux Supérieur 14 // 84 LA GRANDE CLOTTE Lussac-Saint-Emilion 14,75 // 85 - 86 LAFONT FOURCAT Bordeaux rouge 14,75 // 85 - 86 LE PIN BEAUSOLEIL Bordeaux Supérieur 14 // 84 MARJOSSE Bordeaux rouge 14,5 // 85 MARTET Réserve de famille Sainte-Foy-Bordeaux 15,5 // 87 - 88 Bright, fairly intense purplish red. Clean nose bursting with lush ripe fruit. Opening on a delightful, extremely fragrant and mouth-filling palate offering a creamy tactile feel and plenty of fruit. Good length backed by well-coated tannins. A remarkably crafted wine for the appellation and, judging by the calibre of the previous vintages, a cru poised to become a new outsider. This wine is sold mainly in Belgium. The estate belongs to the Belgium wine-merchant Patrick de Coninck. PENIN LES CAILLOUX Bordeaux rouge 13,75 - 14 // 83 - 84 PETRUS GAIA Bordeaux rouge 14,75 // 85 - 86 PEY LA TOUR Bordeaux Supérieur 13 // 80 PEY LA TOUR Réserve du Château Bordeaux Supérieur 14,25 // 84 - 85 SAINTE BARBE Bordeaux Supérieur 13,75 // 83 SAINTE MARIE Bordeaux Supérieur 12 // 76 SUBILAUX Bordeaux rouge 14,25 // 84 - 85 THIEULEY Réserve Francis Courselle Bordeaux Supérieur 13 // 80 VIGNOT St-Emilion Grand Cru 15,5 // 87 - 88 Beautiful dark garnet hue. Both ripe and fresh fruit on the nose. Opening on a beautifully juicy palate then sappy, layered, fragrant and backed by well-coated tannins.
